I snapped this in Corcovado National Park on the Osa Pennisula in southwestern Costa Rica. Leaf-cutter ants are farmers. They harvest leaves which they mix with their saliva in their nests. This causes a fungus to grow which the eat. This photo was published on the cover of this book: www.projektwerkstatt.de/tierrechte/download/antispe_buch/.... It has been used for a commerical web site, too: www.infinitumconsulting.com/home.php
