McDowell Mountain Park Scenic Trail
![]() Today we hiked the "Scenic Nature" trail in McDowell Mountain Regional Park.
www.maricopa.gov/parks/mcdowell/trails.aspx This particular trail is 3.5 miles long with another .8 miles back to the parking lot. The trail is a fairly easy hike with the first leg of the trail walking through a wash. About half way through the 3.5 mile section, the trail meanders its way gently up to the ridge tops for a very nice view of the Verde Valley, Fountain Hills, the McDowell Mountains, and even parts of Scottsdale. The ridge top section of the trail is fairly rocky making hiking boots a must. Today's jaunt was very enjoyable and we look forward to exploring this park a little more in the near future. Nice place, isn't David?
I wish you would have brought your Nikon D-80 and stayed their until moonrise... I'd really like to see the great pics you would have gotten of the moon coming up over the Superstition mountains. I was there with my grandson on a Cub Scouts overnight trip on Oct. 13th... we set up camp in the parking lot.
