A young rider gets some big air at the 'Riverside Extreme' event at the Riverside Museum in Glasgow on Saturday 24th September.

The event was to encourage youngsters to get out on their bikes and generally be more active, and featured a number of activities. The main attraction was the presence of 'Youtube sensation', Danny MacAskill and his team of trials riders who wowed the crowds on regular shows throughout the day. There were also a couple of areas for kids to learn mountain bike and BMX skills along with the area featured in this photograph - the Airbag.

The rider in the picture was not at any risk during his jump as the set-up was a large ramp which directed riders into a giant inflated airbag for participants to land in. This allowed them to practise the more 'unusual' tricks with minimal risk whilst spectators watched on. It proved to be an interesting part of the day as you were never quite sure what the next rider would try into the airbag.

    I took a snap of the same boy at almost the same moment;

    Also, I wonder if you're the photographer I caught in the bottom left hand corner of this one;

    Thanks all for the comments! I'm going to try my best to take time to have a look through everyone else's photostreams when I get a chance.

    Nice capture. I'm fairly sure the rider hadn't spun the bike around during the move I captured above - I'll need to double-check the rest of the quickly fired sequence from the day to see for sure when I get home. It's certainly the same rider though - I found that some of the riders seemed to be doing more photogenic moves than others during the day, so were definitely easier to get nice shots of. It was a fun day and good to be able to catch some interesting shots against that sky.

    Though, I'm afraid I'm not the photographer in the second of your pics - I was just another of the members of public standing behind the railings, so you will have to keep searching for the one who'll have a photo of you taking your own shot at the time. I was curious as to the shots he'd have ended up with himself from inside the ropes as it were during that day too though. :)

    He probably went over the ramp dozens of times, but it's nice to see the same subject in someone else's picture.

    There were definately one or two riders who were wonderful to take photos of; a combination of the types of tricks they were doing, and the height they were getting. Some fantastic shots to be had; congratulations on being included in the Best Shot 2011 gallery.
