Mount Cavanaugh wildfire![]() ![]() We spent the 4th of July at Lake Cavanaugh with Karrin's sister, family and friends. During the fireworks I overheard some people talking about a wildfire nearby, saying that it might reach the road the next day. Since there were a bunch of firefighters at the party I trusted it was true, but guessed the fire was somewhere where I'd never see it.
When we left after midnight, there it was right in front of us. I pulled the car over and took a series of photos. A couple miles further up the road I stopped again and took more photos. The sight of a real wildfire right in front of you is spooky and indescribable. All the photos, films and news reports in the world can't convey what it's like to see it right there in front of you, in real life. The fire appears to be burning on the northeast face of Mount Cavanaugh in Skagit County, Washington. I too was at Lake Cavanaugh on the 4th and saw the fire on the horizon. Kinda eerie seeing the fire at night with all the fire works going on.
