Pink Tank in South London

Pink Tank in South London by davesag.
I saw this tank in South London one day while just wandering around. It's a Russian T34 mark 85 made in 1944. (thanks to Katagh for the info - see comment below).

I lived near to this for a while when I was in Clapham - it used to patrol up and down acre lane in brixton from time to time, didn't seem to be connected to the squat in Coldharbour lane, just somebody's tank i guess.

Let me be the first to welcome you back Davesag. We almost started a thread only about you. Barrybar's been lonely, taking the heat on himself only, and it just hasn't been the same without you, please never go away again.

Oh yeah, this tank sucks. You've got the blurry wire thing on the left, the pink is hardly pronounced, and the framing is slippity sloppity (the bottom is fighting for space, the top has way too much).

@dooda - thanks for the heartfelt welcome back! in true dm style. yes i've been busy. waddayamean *almost* started a thread about me - if you'd really missed me you would have carried on.
@rentahamster- yeah it was here in the 1st week of this group, and before the rules settled - i got caught out posting more than one image (the rules at the time saidi could post 3, but then they changed) so i pulled this and removed the dm tags and comments - and have only now decided to repost it.

It's an interesting object, but I don't think this picture quite works. If the tank was more central it might work better.

Ah, so I wasn't just hallucinating from all that cocaine I just snorted off my toilet seat.

As I recall, the last time I saw this picture I voted "saveme". I don't know why I did that, really...be it my heavy drinking, my debilitating lack of good taste, or my horrible case of eye herpes...not too sure.

If I wanted to destroy mankind, I'm sure my tool of choice would be a pink tank. I can see the irony in that. Furthermore, if I were to sodomize my arch-enemies, my tool of choice, again, would be a pink tank. Of course, "a pink tank" would be my answer for a lot of questions, now that I think about it - like, "What do you want for Christmas", "Why do you hate yourself", "Where did you lose your virginity", "What food makes you fart", "How many fucking kids do you have", etc.

But that's neither here nor there. The point is, now that my eyes are sans herpes, I can see what an utterly reprehensible photo this is. Anyone who can't see that this work of art is clearly a glorified tribute to powerful and unlubricated ass-fucking is most likely blind and incontinent.

Nice to see you again, Dave :)

To be clear on the make of the tank, it's a Russian T34 mark 85 made in 1944. In 1943, just after the big tank battle of Kursk, it was obvious that the Russian medium weight tanks had to increase firepower to be able to come up to the same level as the newest German tanks. The solution was a compromise that turned out very well. A new bigger cast turret with an 850 mm gun was put on an ordinary (but heavier armoured) hull of a T 34 model 1943, and the brand new model was born. Though it didn't look so well balanced with its big turret it was the fast solution to an acute problem. Production seased in late 1944 after a year's production of over 7.200 vehicles.

And now you can get them in pink to.

Genial!

That is very funny... In mi pronvince, Entre Rios, there is a llitlle town called Oro Verde, and in its entrance, you can see a green tank as a a tribute for de army. Well, some boys painted it, and now some stupid judges wants to send them to jail....
They painted the peace simbol.
