Cyclone Larry was upgraded to a category 5 storm as it hit the North Queenland coast, making it the most powerful cyclone to hit Australia in 30 years. Then, for the first time in recorded history, the cylone continued inland, although degraded to category 3 cylone.

fenna: i used to live in brisbane which is well south of the action.
felix and jenny: i anticipate many more such storms of increasing severity. I encourage you to dramatically scale down your energy use, walk or cycle rather than drive, and buy carbon credits to offset your personal CO2 emissions.
