Water trapped in a window

    This was brilliant.

It's patterns made by water trapped between two sheets of glass in the windows of the fantastic stair hall of the Pinakothek Moderne in Munich.

I don't know if the water got in there through condensation or some other manner, but I'd guess that it's capillary action between two almost-touching panes, together with a variety of interesting thermal conditions, which drew the water up between the sheets of glass into these funky patterns. Anyone know any better?

At any rate, I spent almost as long enjoying these windows as I did looking at the art and building! Oh, and if you fancy a bit of a wait, it's well worth viewing these at full size...

BTW, just saw your pic again, on the Explore page for Nov 18, congrat !!! You might want to join the Explore group:
      www.flickr.com/groups/explorepage/

You need a grab of the "Explore" page though, do few "reload" and if your pic is in the top 20 of the day (it's currently 4th), it should appear sooner or later.

Ahhh, Hugo, I looked, but it just wouldn't show up!

      However, I did see this...

      Fame!

...Look! Same web page as Dave Gorman!

Yeah, this Interestingness is already weird, and the way they choose the photos for the Explore page is even weirder apparently ! If you reload the page a couple of times, you'll see the pic start coming back, and they can be as far as 20th or so in the list for the day. But curiously, some seem to never appear, even from the Top 5 ! Try later, maybe ?

Judging by the thumbnail I thought the picture shows some huge event from the realm of Protozoa... As shot through a microscope or something. But wait... Couldn't they in fact be responsible for this little gem of a pattern? We need an expert here.
