Oil on canvas board, 25 cm x 25 cm (10 in. x 10 in.)
Here is another Kinkade style painting that I just finished. I think that I should be using a larger canvas in order to match the brush work in the original better. Still, small paintings can be quite educational without getting tiresome and using too much materials.

I have a couple Kinkade style paintings that are progressing. I'm getting more used to painting in oil now. In the past I used acrylics, but now I really like the slow drying aspect of oil paints.

Oil on canvas board, 28 cm x 36 cm (11 in. x 14 in.).
While the Rolleicord painting (that I haven't finished yet) is an exercise in seeing lines and drawing from life, this painting that I finished today was an exercise in color mixing and brush work. It is based on a painting that I like by Thomas Kinkade.

sketch in progress - rolleicord
I haven't done a painting in years. I recently found a small art store in Mayaguez and decided to buy some oil paints they had on sale along with a few brushes and canvas boards.
I'm working out the lines as I paint, correcting as I go along, and simply enjoying the process. I'm in no hurry, but maybe I'll have a picture of the finished painting posted soon.

beach near Guanica
Taken on the southern coastline of Puerto Rico near the town of Guanica. The hills in the background are part of the Guanica Dry Forest Reserve. If you plan to hike any of its trails, be sure to bring enough water!
