Wow! This is excellent - composition, exposure, interest, textures, sharpness! It works on so many levels.
You cannot beat medium format and black and white for such subjects.
I bet you took this one 10+ years ago, when travel in these places was still an adventure.

A stunning shot.

Andy, the Fuji gs645s is the best MF camera I have used, and I have owned many over the years. Mine is the Wide 60 with the 60mm lens and the crash-bar, the most preferred model. Avoid the folder model with the bellows.

outstanding. interested - is this from your darkroom print, or scanned from the neg? clearly a great amount of care in there, beyond composition and exposure!
BTW is the person squatting in the foreground another photographer portraiting the group beyond?
it's a fascinating shot.
Dizzy Atmosphere (60 months ago | reply)
Likely, I entered the village with two Canadian photographers. This image was scanned from the original negative.

Really fantastic photograph Dave.
Would this be the same Karen peoples that are currently suffering so appallingly under the jackboot of the Burmese Military Junta across the border?
Dizzy Atmosphere (53 months ago | reply)
These are the same Karen peoples, this village is only about 50km from the Burmese border. They have been fighting for a return to their homeland for a half a century.

Great shot! The film/camera/lens working perfectly together. I like those little Fuji 645s, but they're too expensive these days!

This is a scan? Wow. I can only imagine what a print of this would look like; it's mind blowing in detail and tone.
