Looking at this, it reminded me of one of favourite books when I was a
kid from "The Three Investigators" series:

The castle is Bunratty Castle located near Newmarket-on-Fergus, County Clare, Ireland. It lies in the centre of Bunratty village, by the N18 road between Limerick and Ennis, near Shannon airport.
