US Air Force Memorial

DCist Photo of the Day November 28, 2006. Now I love DCist that little bit more :)

It's very pretty but I have to say it was a bitch to photograph up close, it's just too big and too spread out. However, I think this is probably the best photograph I've ever taken. It's easily become my favourite.

    The sky is great here with the object it looks like a picture taken from the space station or something..very cool!!

    It's hard to tell if you are in the atmosphere looking down to the clouds, or on the floor looking up. Nice capture.

    I love the way the top just vanishes... Very difficult architecture to photograph. Never really took the time to drive up to photograph it myself.. but now I kinda want to :)

    its an odd looking structure for sure, esp when you drive by it on Rte 1, I might have to come down and shoot it at night if thats possible.

    Agree with your comment, although I'm not a big fan of the Memorial (reminds me of the Devil's horns every time I'm driving in I-95N).
    I had the same problem photographing it, and got the same angle (see picture)

    It's even cooler because I'm pretty sure those aren't actual clouds in the sky above it, they are dissipating aircraft con trails.

    Despite what everyone else thinks, I love this memorial. I think it is so different from all the other memorials, and yet so simple, and sleek. You really captured that here...well done.

    Beautiful shot of a not so nice memorial. Agree with your comment, it's so difficult to photograph. I have a similar shot, but like the way the clouds look on this one.
