When it all blows over

this whole part comes across metallic to me. it's awesome. I get a sci-fi feeling from it...

The gold hue is a result of my being up at the ungodly hour of 6am to catch the sunrise in the cemetery. Three Cheers and a sleeping pill for insomnia.

dj12lee: Yes, it is, just a bit in one spot. It could also be reflction, there was a bit of dew around.

Well, it was very close. But you worked hard on your boat to accomodate the criticism of the DM folks. I have yet to do that to this picture. I will, I've already printed one recrop for my mother for mother's day, but I still wasn't totally satisfied with the colors and shadows and noise in that one.

This is an amazing image! I rarely find myself in DeleteMe these days, yet if I did, I certainly would have saved this wonderfully composed image. I simply don't understand (and it isn't explained either) where and why the crop is too tight, why the light is too yellow and why a bright part is immediately labelled "blown out". The depth of field is flawlessly chosen, there is a lot of detail but not overwhelmingly much, and it is certainly the color that makes this image outstanding.

Thank you so much for your comments IHP. The blown and tight crop both refer to the top of the dandelion's head (and they're right there is a loss of detail there). I can see, too where some might feel that part of the stem might be lost close to the top of the frame. When I printed it for my mother I made sure to increase the spacing on the top for precisely that reason, it gives the picture just slightly more balance. I'm so pleased to hear your thoughts, though, thank you.
