The snow-capped peak in your photo is actually Mount San Gorgonio, which at 11,503 feet is the tallest peak in southern California. Your view is looking north of Palm Springs. Mount San Jacinto is west of Palm Springs, behind the "foothills" where the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway parking lot is and the Tramway goes up to only the 8,500 foot level.
