In my hand there be a blue flame

In my hand there be a blue flame by Dave77459.
I grew up eating pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving. I love it. Unfortunately, in the small family of myself, Jamie, and the kids, I am the only one. Not unfortunately, we have arrived at a happy compromise: Pumpkin Creme Brulee.

Sara helped me make them, but they have to chill. After the tree lighting, we came back and I got to use a wedding present for the first time: a cooking torch!

My kids are convinced that I am a pyro. They could be right.

That's awesome. As my family's official pie maker for the last 25 years I would love to try this next year!

I'm a sweet potato girl myself, but I could be persuaded with the promise of burnt sugar. Yum!

Now... far be it from me to go all health-foody on you, but it has come to my attention that one could make fat-free pumpkin creme brulee by using an egg substitute and fat-free half-and half...

These look AWESOME. I will have to work out the recipe this Christmas...

- Only if you are not a pyromaniac like me.

- They are like pies without the crust. Yum!

- Ha! The Talking Heads! Thanks for the flashback!

- Except for separating the eggs, these are super easy.

- I will vouch for delicious!

- We had the remainders Friday and added a second layer of burnt sugar. Yum!

- And there was!

- Really good.

- I think the instructions state that is not to be used as a weapon, so you are out of luck.

- I like gadgets too, and this is a pretty small one.

- We need to stick together then.

- I used to be a sous chef at a country club, and I love to cook still.

- We used Fat Free 1/2 n 1/2 and Splenda the first year (real sugar for the glaze). It worked great. This year another recipe called for heavy whipping cream, and since we had it, I did the less-healthy route.

- They were really great; give it a try.

- I like that you embrace the real ingredients. You can substitute the more dietary ingredients if you feel guilty. If you don't, enjoy!

Oh, sorry for the lack of context... my stepfather has had a number of bypass operations, and is now at the stage where he's basically been told, "If it tastes good, spit it out." So we're thinking of Ralph, who loves to eat and can't have either eggs OR cream.

As for us, well, we have an open container of whipping cream AND of egg nog in the fridge at the moment. Mmmmmmm.....

- No worries. I'm presently enjoying dark chocolate coco made with Splenda. With mini-marshmellows and dark chocolate Ghirardelli chips.
