Copy a copycat by Dave77459

Copy a copycat

FGR wanted us to copy a copycat.

Well, I am copying Jerry who copied the Knob. I picked it because I don't get to wear my stripey socks nearly enough, nor make fun of the Numpty nearly enough.

Oh, and Happy HNT!

I had a visceral reaction at seeing this van by Dave77459

I had a visceral reaction at seeing this van

I was surprised by the strength of my emotion, seeing this van. I'll repeat the story below, but suffice to say I cannot ever give blood again. That makes me angry and frustrated, but mostly sad peppered with a sense of loss. You may not know this, but I sometimes feel my emotions strongly. Today was such a day.

Anyways, I disclosed the story below on Day 157 of my 365. I'm repeating it so that you don't have to go look.

*****

This photo has two purposes. The first is to show me enjoying the bitter nectar of the Gods: coffee. The second is to introduce you to one of the scariest and ultimately tragic experiences of my life.

I learned one day that I tested HIV positive.

Oh, don't worry. I am not HIV positive. I just had a false positive. Don't freak out, although I kinda wanted you to, for dramatic reasons. I'm an asshat that way.

I was tested as a standard procedure when I gave blood. As you can see, I was a dedicated and frequent donor. I was proud of my donations and intended to surpass my dad. I think he is at 8 gallons now. I was also proud that I could give so fast. I forget now, but I think I was able to squirt out a pint in six minutes or so. I have great veins, and I was the perfect donor.

Until, that is, I got the false positive for HIV. That was a hugely traumatic experience, as you can guess. Being told via a form letter that you might die is not ideal. In fact, being told via a form letter is pretty fcuked up if you ask me.

Pretty quickly, I learned that it was a false positive. I breathed a sigh of relieve, thinking that although it was a pretty intense few days, the worst was behind me. I was wrong.

The next time the blood van pulled up, I went to donate again. I'd filed all the proper paperwork to let the effing Blood Center know that it was a false positive. But, still, I was rejected. When they looked into it, they discovered that I would not be able to donate until after 9999. In other words, never.

It turns out that the USA government has a rule that anyone who tests positive for HIV can never donate blood again. It does not matter that it was a false positive. Oh, and this was an experimental test that I agreed to let them test me with. The regular test showed I did not have HIV.

So, because I was a guinea pig and allowed myself to be tested as an experiment, I can not legally give blood again. By law. Pretty messed up, huh?

These days, I always feel a bitter sting of remorse when I use this cup with its proud 3 Gallon Donor logo. I'd be at 4 gallons, or more, now. Even worse are the letters and emails I get from the effing Blood Center urging me to donate because donors are desperately needed.

Coffee isn't the bitterest thing this cup holds. Memories are far more bitter.

The happy hour of living dangerously by Dave77459

The happy hour of living dangerously

Here's something you don't see every day: a man sandwiched between his two wives... and smiling.

Of course there is Jamie. But on the other side is my office wife: the one who henpecks me at the office since Jamie can't do it. We cheerfully fight and bite all day. She's a great lady, and soon to be a wealthy entrepreneur. I think I'll keep her.

It was distressingly tough to be a mop whore by Dave77459

It was distressingly tough to be a mop whore

I wanted to take a photo of the office mop for yesterday's FGR group, Mop up on aisle WHORE. But it was mysteriously missing from where it always is.

So then the fallback plan was to do a totally nekkid mop shop in the back of the bar while others were karaokeing in the front. Unfortunately, I asked my responsible mate to block the door. She refused, and then pretty much told me I couldn't do that shot.

So, the actual whoring failed, and now you see just a plain ol' mop. Kinda sad. *sniff*

Does this drive you nuts? by Dave77459

Does this drive you nuts?

A photo that gets one view in 4 months gets 27 in one day via an unknown source?
