The timber ponds on the River Clyde at Langbank, Renfrewshire. Feb 29 2012. Looking northeast towards Dumbarton Rock (centre) and the long ridge of Langcraigs beyond. The timber ponds were used by the Clyde's great shipyards in the 19th Century to store timber while the wood was being seasoned by the saltwater.

The Satellite at Gleddoch Plantation, Barscube Hill, Renfrewshire. Feb 28 2012. This species overwinters as an adult – I last saw them in October – but this apparently risky strategy has paid off after a mild winter. Temperature here last night was 13ºC – warmer than it was during the day!
