My second attempt at Ogmore, this time at the high tide. The magic sunset was nowhere to be seen yet again, however I was welcomed by the nature with gale force winds, powerful crashing waves and plenty of sea spray. This made the efforts of getting the shot even harder. The tripod just wasn't stable enough in the wind, and the lens got immediately covered with salty water. In the end I got a few keepers, and will be posting them over the next few days.
I will have to revisit Ogmore later on at medium tide, and also explore Dunraven bay and Porthcawl. In the meantime, I may have a think about heading down South.

From the archive... This was probably the only really colourful sunset to date I had a chance to photograph. It was taken in 2009, when I first seriously started shooting landscapes. I wasn't this lucky with the weather for almost three years since then. We seem to get only a few great sunsets a year. Despite all my efforts I had missed most of them.
I was vaguely planning a trip to Iceland, looking at all the great photographs, as well as the more realistic ones... Then I saw the most amazing sunset through the office window. The horizon was covered by heavy and dark clouds, however just above there were and deep orange red clouds spanning the turquoise blue Bristol sky. It was rewarding enough to watch it unfold before me. Unfortunately, I can't share it this time. I had no camera, and strictly speaking I was in the wrong place to compose a strong image. We already had several great evenings this January, and I do hope I will get lucky again soon.
I am not sure one can predict amazing sunsets, but if that's possible I would be very interested.
