I was in NYC this past week very briefly for work and managed to get in just a few photos before heading back to Chicago. I wandered around Grand Central Terminal for a while taking pictures. This one is my favorite from the bunch that I got.

In the Castle & Up the Stairs...

So in truth this is not a castle, but like the last picture, it is the Chicago Theological Seminary. The basement of this building is home to the Seminary Co-op Bookstore, widely considered to be the best academic bookstore in North America, and rivaled in the world only by Blackwells in Oxford. (Having spent considerable time in both Blackwells and the Sem Coop store I actually prefer the Coop because Blackwells always feels too touristy to me.) Sadly, after so many decades, the Seminary Coop bookstore is moving to a new location in Hyde Park - over to another building next to the Frank Lloyd Wright house just a block away. I will miss exploring the stacks in the dusty, winding basement corridors.

Holiday Wonder

[Explored #13]

Chicago has a wonderful Christkindlmarket downtown every year filled with delightful German handmade decorations and crafts and stalls selling bratwurst and schnitzel. I went down on Christmas Eve along with my family and enjoyed a rather mild Chicago day (no snow!).

I hope everyone had a happy holiday!
