MO-St Louis - Gloves on Washington

    St. Louis, MO

I thought every building along the old Garment Row on Washington between 10th and 15th had been fully gentrified, but there's a little flavor left on this one. ..What was the brand--Kitty Kay? What a great name.

Is THAT what it says? Huh. My November 08 shot shows quite a bit less of this sign.

That is so awesome! What a gem that storefront would be if people would just take a little care and pride in the history of the building.

I'd get in there and take that window out! It should be donated to a museum.

I have a friend who works across the street from this building, which is being turned into loft space. Maybe she can keep an eye on the work as it progresses, and I can talk to the work crew when they get around to the windows. Since the neighborhood is famous as St. Louis' old garment district, I wouldn't be surprised if the new owners keep the sign--it's been so well-preserved under that layer of whatever-it-is for all these years. I also wouldn't be surprised if the City Museum didn't already have dibs on it.
