Monkey Creek - Eglinton Valley

Monkey Creek - Eglinton Valley

this is the Monkey Creek in the Eglinton Valley on the way from Te Anau to Milford Sound... i was lucky enough to travel there reasonably early in the morning... i was able to catch some of the great, fresh, cold morning light and mood...

Purakaunui Falls

Purakaunui Falls

there are quite a few waterfalls in the Catlins region and these are the Purakaunui Falls... they are also a cascading multi-tiered waterfall on the Purakaunui River... they are an iconic image for south eastern New Zealand...

McLean Falls

McLean Falls

one of my favourite locations from the west coast of New Zealand... the 22-metre falls on the Tautuku River can be found in Catlins Forest Park... they drop down over a number of steps and terraces...

we were there during a reasonably rainy season so the green flora around the falls was very rich and lush and there was plenty of water coming down as well...

this is a closer view and you can also see the Nuggets (rocks) around the lighthouse... they make for quite a spectacular view and they are home to penguins and seals...
