Journal Entry, 18-5-2005
All but a few minutes remain before the sun sets and I will have no more light to write with, here in the desert of western Egypt on my 29th birthday. It is remarkably beautiful at this very moment. A subtle gradient from yellow to reddish orange settles on the horizon, west where my home lays thousands of miles away. Soon the sun will be gone, as will the time, as will this day and this moment; yet I will never forget being in the white desert in the presence of such silence.
All I hear is the humming
Within my ears.
Then the sound of movement;
A book being retrieved,
Footsteps in the sand,
The preparation of dinner,
Veggies sliced quickly; rhythmically.
I hear a fly hovering nearby,
The wind passing through,
And every once in awhile
Nothing.
Today was a good day, driving southwest from the Bahariyya Desert through the Black Desert by the Crystal Mountain, and finally into this place, the White Desert.

gah! GREAT pic, excellent sense of space, and really pure colors, all of which don't play well here!
