$51,7 millones es el valor total de las importaciones de Estados Unidos de banderas americanas en el 2001; algo más de la mitad de esta cantidad ($29,7 millones) corresponde a banderas de Estados Unidos hechas en China. La mayoría de estas banderas fueron importadas en octubre, el primer mes completo después del 11 de septiembre, en ese momento un valor total de $34,8 millones entro al país.

American Flag: Lapel Pin
(First exhibited in 2004, with the following text that has been
updated yearly. The pin itself was a present from the Smithsonian
Institution Museum of American History)
$51.7 million was the value of U.S. imports of American flags in 2001;
just
over half of this amount ($29.7 million) was for U.S. flags made in
China.
The bulk of these flags was imported in October, the first full month
following
Sept. 11, when $34.8 million worth were brought into the country.
