a gleam of hope

a gleam of hope

Los Angeles National Cemetery, CA – Visited the cemetery for the Memorial Day ceremony. It was a mixed emotion of celebration and loss. So many have given so much for their country. This gentleman walked by as I was taking the picture and the sun happened to bounce off one his metals on the collar. The image struck me; something about the light reflection seemed symbolic, as if maybe at one time he saved another soldier, an angel in another’s eyes. I am indeed humbled by the thousands of men and woman who sacrificed their lives so that others could have the freedoms in which most of us take for granted.

The BeerKrate

The BeerKrate

This is my latest project, building THE BeerKrate. It’s been a lot of fun and it has been getting a lot of positive feedback. There are currently three different variations available. It’s been fun making these and I look forward to make many more.

almost a silhouette

almost a silhouette

Woodland Hills, CA – Walking outside in nature does can do wonders; it creates a circus between your ears, it dilates the pupil in the mind’s eye, it can even make toast (well, if you leave your bread out long enough). Walking outside stimulates all five of your senses, even the sixth secret sense – the sense of being. Then again it's also a great place to drink beer.

point of impact

Reseda, CA – This is a Dewalt 7730 RAS (radial arm saw), according to my records this was manufactured in 1973. This was my dad’s saw; I remember “attempting” to help him cut wood in the garage when I was kid. Now it’s in my garage and I’m still attempting to work with wood. The saw makes an ear piercing soul shattering sound (like a jet engine running into a haunted house). It’s magnified when cutting through hardwood. As treacheries as it sounds, it’s more like music to my ears. For every time I kick it on and the lights temporally dim from the power of the saw I think of my dad.

The Valley

The Valley

Woodland Hills, CA – Took one of those day hikes; a storm just passed and I figured the sky should be clear and the clouds will probably be friendly. The trail was a bit muddy but we treated with an awesome sight when we got to the top. I can’t believe the is “the valley”, rarely is the sky so clean and crisp. I recently found about this trail even though I have lived here for over 10 years, what a great find. I am looking forward to do some more exploring.
