I remember the feel of that disk drive closure mechanism like it's ingrained in my *soul* -- a hefty clunk.

Note that the stand is different pictured on the box than what's inside.

Not just the feeling of the drive door, but the sound that those machines make when the boot--that wonderful klicking sound!

Notice that when SJ was in charge, "unboxing" your Apple Computer was a religious experience, then the regime under Scinldelio made it a chore. Now that SJ has the reins, unpacking your Mac (or iPod or iPhone, etc.) rocks again.

They still use that let-the-product's-design-speak-for-itself philosophy in today's packaging. I had a lot of fun with mine - the monitor stand/diving board was a hoot. The thing was a pain to open up, though.

Hey, you have the same B&W Center speaker as me! Got the fronts and rears as B&W too?

Yeah, the closure mechanism always made it feel like you could lose a finger if you weren't careful with it.

Also, remember the noise it made if you didn't have a disk / had a bad disk in the drive and turned it on...BDDDDDDDTTTTTT! Always scared the crap out of you.

Hmmm, I wonder if B&W owners and Apple owners have as many overlaps as Apple owners and Lotus owners.

Nautilus 805s and some B&W in-walls here.
