Čokpak (Kazakhstan) - Train Almaty - Uralsk![]() ![]() Taken out of the train window between the stations of Čokpak and Obronnyj Punkt 115 in Southern Kazakhstan Oblast, close to Shymkent.
Like all other westbound trains, the train Almaty - Uralsk (Oral in Kazakh) crosses through Kyrgyz territory for about half an hours, fortunately no transit visa is needed. Our train even stopped twice there, but no border guards or police turned up at the stations, so it would be probably very easy to cross the frontier illegally there...
