Is this extra extra lettuce?

Is this extra extra lettuce? by Daniel Greene.
I'd like a vote: is this what you would call extra extra lettuce on a BLT (Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato) sandwich?

I call it barely enough lettuce for a regular BLT. The first time I ordered one of these from the cafe in my office building, they served it with one thin piece of green leaf lettuce. So the second time I asked for "extra lettuce" and I got two thin leaves of green lettuce. The third time, I asked if they had any iceberg lettuce to make the sandwich wetter. They said no, so I asked for "extra extra" lettuce, and I got this: two or three leaves of thin green lettuce.

And don't give me any guff about being a Jew and eating bacon and kvetching about the lack of lettuce when I said I'd try to complain less. ;-) This isn't complaining, it's critiquing. I'm a food critic now; haven't you heard? Of course I'm grateful to have food to eat (God knows we live in a world in which people starve to death), but I still have my wishes, and I wish for a moist BLT with lots of lettuce. Yeah! =)

P.S. I blogged this.

I vote NO. I would expect at least twice as much.

Not being a lettuce fan, I'd say yes, it's extra lettuce.

Try the BLT at Arby's. It's got tons of lettuce and is delicious!

Yes, I think this is extra lettuce. Since they gave you a good leaf lettuce instead of iceberg, it's pretty flat and limp anyhoo, so this looks like double to me. Hope it tasted good!

Bring some of your own lettuce to the cafe and fix it up yourself after you get it. Any more kvetching and you're probably going to see a considerable increase in the spit to food ratio in your order.

Being a foodie myself, typically you don't get a lot of romaine with a BLT. So looking at this, I say yes, it's more than usual but not the extra extra you wnated.

I've learned that when I want to modify something, you have to be very specific. We have a burger joint down the street and I love their salads but I ask them to modify it by not adding feta and extra gyro meat and lots of cucumbers. The first time, I got 2 extra slices of cucumbers. The next time I asked them for like 7 or 8 more slices please and told them I didn't care if they had to charge me more for it.

Did I mention that Neil's Jewish too but he eats more pork than I do.

My initial thought is NO, there is no extra lettuce. It looks like a simple, standard sandwich. Now, if this quantity of lettuce qualifies as "extra", the regular amount must literally be just a leaf.

PLEASE tell me you do not partake in the palate pleasing, culinary delight of shellfish? Sorry, I couldn't resist. ;-)

Thank you, Erez!
Spoken like a true lettuce loather, Robert. ;-)
Thanks for the tip, Scott!
Thanks for the vote, Cobalt; it tasted good, but it was dry.
Oh, but I'm very nice to them, Bruce! I gnash my teeth and say, "Didn't I ask for extra lettuce? What do I have to do now, ask for 'extra extra' lettuce? Don't you know what the L in BLT stands for? LETTUCE!" and then I smile super politely and bat my eyelashes at them. Works every time! ;-)
Thanks, John, for the suggestion. I'll just ask them for four leaves of lettuce next time. (And thanks for telling me about Neil. I know I'm in good pork/bacon-eating company!)
I am not a big fan of shellfish, Maurice, but not because I keep kosher. I did once keep kosher for about a year, and I seem to recall I broke that diet with a Sourdough Jack (which not only has bacon but also combines meat and dairy... yum).

I'd say this is a B"l"T--with a little "l". Not extra at all. I like mine to go "crunch" and "pop". But then, I never order it out--always make my own so that I can toast the bread just the way I like. (I also like extra mayo).
