After shooting Kilt Rock I went exploring. This is one of the rare times I found something to shoot after dark without scouting it first. I ended up on a narrow road between the cliff and the water that ended at this old boathouse and boat launch behind me. It was so isolated, there was nothing down there at all. Seemed like a perfect place to shoot.

I felt this setup also called for a nice vertical panoramic so I set up the mamiya and shot alongside the hasselblad. I don't know which one I like better but I'm happy with both of them so I'm glad I did it.

This night was hit and miss as far as photo opportunities. After finally making it to the Isle of Skye the clouds came in and it started snowing heavily. I settled into my hotel room for the night when after an hour the clouds broke. I jumped in my car and drove up to Staffin to get some shooting in. This was taken around midnight under a full moon partially obscured by clouds. It was around -1c out but I didn't care. I had finally made it to Skye and I got a lucky break in the weather.

Here's a closer view of the castle. Despite the cold this night was too good to stop shooting. I'm really glad a big storm hit the west of Scotland and made me detour up the east coast for a day.

Despite being on the water and the nearly full moon I was able to capture some decent star trails over the castle. I was really surprised when I got the film back by the number of stars, I could not see very many at all with the naked eye that night.
