Highland Lakes CampgroundDirt road camping is the best! Minimal facilities, means minimal crowds & minimal fees.This Wilderness place can only be accessed a few months outta the year, due to heavy snow pack. 4x4 is not required, but you'll need a Stanislaus map to find it.

Twin Lakes PeaksOur route home took us down Hwy 395 & we soaked at Buckeye Hot Springs near Bridgeport CA. He really wants to climb those 11,000' granite spires in the Hoover Wilderness. And there is still snow left in July!
