Pack it Out by danamight

Pack it Out

Ammo shells contribute to most of the trash littering on the rural back roads of Cali. Beer cans, bottles and shooting targets come in second and third place. The book called "how to stop littering" has not made it into schools yet, so we must teach these values at home to our young teens and tough boys.

Parking on Snowy, Curvy, Mountain Roads by danamight

Parking on Snowy, Curvy, Mountain Roads

Sledders will do anything to access the mountains and slide down a hill of snow, ice or mud. Many put themselves, plus their families lives at risk by -
not having a capable vehicle
no decent tires = no traction
not parking all the way off the pavement
sledding at dusk or in the dark

Come on folks. Use some common sense.

Where NOT to Park by danamight

Where NOT to Park

Most city folks needs to take a MOUNTAIN DRIVING 101 class before they attempt winter roads like this. Single car accidents are quite common among residents of rural mountain towns. Multi-car pile ups are more common with visitor and tourists.

lesson #1 always carry chains, w/ a 2WD vehicle
lesson #2 do not park on a curve
lesson #3 drive slower / 20-40 mph
lesson #4 watch for ice in shady spots & at night
lesson #5 always be in gear; never coast in neutral
lesson #6 do not brake firmly on sheets of ice
lesson #7 say no to bald tires

Scenic Loop Road by danamight

Scenic Loop Road

VALLEY OF FIRE PARK:
1 hour N of Las Vegas, between Lake Mead & Interstate 15. This is a park I really wanna camp at next time I visit. Place was a hikers paradise. Summer exceed 100 degrees during most days, so a winter camping adventure is in the works.
