As it turned out (and thanks for the feedback, everyone!), photos by adc and merfam weren't taken on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology campus! Mosaickr allows a tag search of creative commons attribution licensed photos. I searched for photos tagged MIT. I had chosen only thumbnails of photos I believed to be on MIT's campus, since many of the search results were obviously NOT the "MIT" I was looking for, but apparently these two slipped though, much to my chagrin. 2 out of 40 isn't too bad.

Very cool, Dan! Actually, my image does have something to do with the Mass. Inst. of Tech., since it was taken at an MIT Enterprise Forum event.

I like your mosaic and thanks for referring to me. Take care. The only thing is I can't find myself in your puzzle!

I'm not a fan of these generated mosaics but it's nice.

    plus: it looks nice
minus: the upper right corner looks a bit strange. i cannot really make out what it is.

sorry for the uninspired comment, but this is more of a mosaic than a photograph ;-)

That must have taken 1000 hours to put together.

Plus- Very creative use of mosiacs.

Minus- Maybe the image created, or represented in the mosiac could be sharper?

I have an MIT Campus picture, but it might not be visible due to the use of a free account. Check it out here: www.yetanotherphotoblog.de/index.php?showimag e=4

Still a nice idea and a nice picture.

  19. ReneS (72 months ago | reply)

I found it, it is still active and it is an MIT picture... so hopefully mosaicr used the right one: www.flickr.com/photos/rene-germany/14862958/

Very clever - works better as a small icon

    plus: Cool use of mosiacs
minus: A bit hard to make out what it is; especially the upper right corner.

Cool work Dan :-) Thanks for including one of my photos ... and especially thanks for the acknowledgement.

Do you have any plans to do anything particular with this collage?

  23. Dan4th (72 months ago | reply)

@bunnyred : No, not really. I had considered submitting it to MIT for their daily front page (http://web.mit.edu/ has a new piece of MIT related artwork every day) but I feel like it's hard to guarantee they'll appropriately credit all the contributing photographers.

    Hey! That's awesome!

  25. wynnyelle (72 months ago | reply)

A little fuzzy but nice. Colour looks kind of washed out especially on the upper right side--something's going on there that I'm not sure what it is.

  26. Dan4th (72 months ago | reply)

    @wynnyelle :

Yeah, I think I need to run it again using a view of just the dome, and no tree. I think interference in the upper right is making it hard to see the recognizable shape of MIT's dome.

  27. wynnyelle (72 months ago | reply)

I have to run some of my mosaics several times before I like them enough to post them. Most of the ones I make don't ever make it to flickr...lol.
