on the trek up to base camp, we stopped at a monastery to bunker down for the night..

we had intentions of camping at base camp, but it was snowing too hard, and hit -15C..
i wasn't going to pitch a tent in that.. i know i know.. a big wus.. but breathing at that altitude was very hard.

at about 10pm the clouds cleared, the snowing stopped.. this isn't Everest, but the next best thing.. right?

i was walking down by the Storey Bridge, Kangaroo Point..

The setting sun poked out from behind the clouds as it went past the downtown (Brisbane) city skyline..

on the way to everest, we pulled in to mt emei ( 峨嵋山), just outside of xian, in the sichuan province..

This is the location of the first Buddhist temple built in China in the 1st century CE..

it took us 7 hours to get to the top, and it was steps, 95% of the way... wholey cow.. walking up steps for 7 hours is hard.. so hard it took 2 days to walk out.. who would of thought walking down steps was so hard..

they had an open day to celebrate QLD's 150 years as a state of AUSTRALIA..

another in the series of mountain passes along the friendship highway from Lhasa to the Qomolangma National park..

Qomolangma is the tibetan name for Everest.. Everest was just the British cartography who mapped the area..
