It's the end of 2011 and as is tradition, I'll use a great piece of software to incorporate all of my previous photos into making individual mosaics of my favorite images of this past year. If that last sentence didn't make sense, just have a look at today's images and I think you'll get the gist of what I'm talking about.

Fairy-Tale Fort
(Menthon-Saint-Bernard, Haute-Savoie, France)

The Chateau Menthon-Saint-Bernard backed by the cliffs and peaks of the French Alps.
This is yet another painfully beautiful castle in the area. This one, however, is open for tours during the summer which indicates that the owner couldn't afford to pay all of his taxes on this place.
If you look in the upper right corner, you'll see a speck of a paraglider enjoying the view from near the peak of one of the nearby mountains.

An aerial view of Chateau Ruphy, a French castle, as seen from Col de la Forclaz, a mountain pass near Annecy, France.
In continuation of the castle theme, I present a photo of yesterday's same castle. And in taking more baby steps while I drive around the Haute-Savoie region, I've gone a bit further afield - to the other side of the lake - to take this photo.
