Bungalow Paint Color Schemes - Pick Your Favorite Historic Colors

This original palette came in the 1916 catalog of kit house plans. Look at it in the large size to see the bungalow color suggestions. As you can see here, a craftsman bungalow should be at least 3 colors. Body, Trim, Details. Notice also that there was no scheme that includes white for the body.

The Arts and Crafts colors are all about earth related, muted color that ground the house where it happens to be. So when deciding how to paint the exterior, consider that different colors will be appropriate in different climates. Roof shingle color has to be taken into account as does any brick or stone detailing on the home.
