"Ready-Cut" means that the house was shipped by rail and arrived at the building site already cut to fit, like a giant 30,000 (approximately) piece jigsaw puzzle. So, I suppose that you didn't need a saw, but you probably needed your own hammer...

These homes were NOT prefabricated. Check out the kit home phenomenon including most of the major manufacturers of the era at the Arts & Crafts Society.
