Bracketed Gothic/American Stick Style Architect: Albert Lee (from the National Register) 2600 Sunset Dr., Bellingham, WA National Register #77001366, added in 1977 In 1903 the foundation was laid for the Victor A. Roeder Home located at the end of Sunset Drive with a spectacular view down Broadway to Bellingham Bay. No expense was spared in constructing the elegant home. Completed in 1908, the Roeder Home had interior oak paneling, hand painted murals, and even a built-in vacuum cleaning system. It was truly a modern house for its time. Albert Lee, the same architect who designed Old Main and the Whatcom Museum of History and Art designed the Roeder home. Two similar architectural styles have been used to describe the Roeder home's stylistic mixture. The first is Bracketed Gothic and the second is the American Stick Style that has gothic overtones The projecting eaves with elaborate brackets underneath are the most prominent Stick Style features of the Roeder home. The gabled roof, however, is not pitched as steeply as other Stick Style residences. Victor Roeder Home CommentsDaily Bungalow
