Eastern Box Turtle - Brigantine Salt Marsh (A.k.a. Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge), Oceanville, New Jersey
I've been accused of being slow, but I prefer to think of myself as deliberate . . .
Note: This was/is a wild turtle.
These guys are called Box Turtles because they have a hinged plastron that closes as "tight as a box",
and not because they like being put in a box!
Sometimes the best intentions and/or the lack of careful consideration
can lead to unintended consequences, and now these guys are on the verge of being "endangered"
as the result of that unintended consequence.
