Whirlpool

Another whirlpool spotted in the creek yesterday, this one next to a spot where the water rushes out from amidst the rocks.

I took a closer crop of the whirlpool and jetstream but felt the wider context shot was more pleasing to the eye.

Also puddling with borders a bit, if only because the black adds a bit more impact when viewed on flickr's white background.

Whirlpool is now available for sale as prints or posters.

Beautiful! I miss weekends spent in the SE QLD rainforest.

What's even better is that it's just down the road from home :-)

Gorgeous David!!! So nicely captured!!! How lucky you are to have this on your doorstep.

Thanks Jill :) I'm exceedingly pleased we're actually getting some rain this year so I can enjoy this area as it should be.

Hey David, that looks great....I did not think there would be water running in the creek...you must have had rain

    9. ronnietan (56 months ago | reply)

can you actually see the whirlpool when your there? or is it only after the long exposure it shows up in the photo

your collection of long exposed water shots is growing and all of them fantastic

    10. David de Groot (56 months ago | reply)

Indeed we have - about 50-60mm this week :) I was hoping for more, but at least the creek is running now.

Yep, the whirlpool is just visible from the bubbles/froth on the surface when standing there, it shows up as more pronounced over the long exposure.

    16. David de Groot (56 months ago | reply)

Indeed it is :) And so close to home too.

      Danke :)

It's a great location, much more interesting when it's flowing like this though (as opposed to being almost dry as it has been not that long ago).

Thanks Jeff. I think a trip down Springbrook way is in order soonish, how's the weather been down your way ? Nice and wet ?

Hi David - congratulations on a superb photograph. Yes, having that extra "context" definitely improves the overall aesthetic of the whirlpool. This is great!

Superb shot Dave. Great subject and the bronze leaves top it off. You didn't take a bag of leaves with you and throw them around, did you?

Ive been down in Sydney for the past few days David, but everything looks green in the garden. I must take a hike into the Hinterlands soon to attempt some water pics. We may just have a good year in front of us.

It is indeed a lovely place Jack. Presumably because it'd been raining a fair bit and the water was flowing quickly, the mozzies weren't about either :)

Thanks. It's a very pretty place.

fantastic! i love how the whirl pools look here compared to the flowing part that was captured with motion blur! this is a really beautiful location...
