Piece by broken piece the street seems to shout its story. The crush of past movement has been harsh, the evidence clearly seen in it's lines and fissures. It looks a remarkable place, but then the romance in you takes over, and we see only that flurry of life that seems to be lived by someone who is really living, and not us. Under closer scrutiny, and not knowing we are in Rome, we see dirty, unkempt streets, graffiti, and an impoverished area. If we stumbled on this site, say in Philadelphia, the Bronx, or East Los Angeles, we would not leave our car, and would not take a photo. Maybe somewhere in Rome, there is a woman, sitting in her room, looking at pictures of Hollywood, and thinking the same.......
