Aspiring Objective
I have just taken up Archery and I really like it.
Granted I have only been 3x but still, so far, its challenging and fun. Its nice to be outside. There is a beautiful range a few miles from where I live within the South Bay in the Saratoga Mountains. The range is like a golf course. You walk from target to target, shooting through obstacles and at 3-D targets of animals. They also have a general area where there are a lot of targets, at different ranges, all in one spot, in case you dont want to walk the course. The club that uses the range is actually 70% hunters. And although I do not plan on actually hunting and killing animals. It should be noted that everyone who eats meat – pretty much accepts that type of killing. Not something we really think about. So I could hunt, but don’t want to. Two types of bows out there. Compound Bows which are high tech versions of the common bow. Have a very fast launch (upwards of 200 miles an hour) and use a whole bunch of gadgets that make it easier to hit your target. Hunters use this type of bow as it makes it that much easier. Then there is the Traditional Bow or Recurve Bow. Nothing fancy. Just a piece of wood and one string. This is what I am using now. It is pretty clear that it is more challenging and I like that better. The string is tied up to a certain poundage. The higher the poundage (70 lbs) the faster the arrow will fly. It gets pretty tiring pulling a heavy string back when you are not used to it. CommentsWould you like to comment?Sign up for a free account, or sign in (if you're already a member). |

Don't shoot! Don't shoot!
Wonderful pic. I've always wanted to get into archery... do you bowhunt yourself, or just for sport?
