Running krdc, the pre-installed VNC client on the ASUS Eee PC 701 4G, to view the screen of the XO laptop

    With VNC server running on the XO laptop, I used the pre-installed VNC client on the ASUS Eee PC to view the XO's screen. Since the Eee PC's screen is much lower resolution and a different aspect ratio, the full XO screen is distorted when set to fit. See the next photo for what it looks like at 1:1.

      Interesting photo. I got a chance to play with the OLPC today, and I just bought the Eee PC.

      Do you own either? What do you think about the Eee PC?

      I bought it as my everywhere laptop to do email, web and write. I'm thinking of buying an EVDO card to go with it.

      I have a MacBookPro now, but I dont like lugging around my baby (a very expensive baby) where I go.

      misterdarcy: I agree the MBP isn't very portable. But if you don't carry it around, then why get a notebook in the first place?

      @in_a_kingdom_by_the_sea:

      Lots of reasons. MBP is portable, but the Eee is mobile.

      1. If you need to do a major presentation, do some serious work off-site (Photoshop or huge PowerPoint files) or some programming - you need to take your MBP (and hurt your back).

      2. If you want something you can throw into your bag as you're running out the door - so you can check your email, write a blog post or two later...than that's what the Eee does.
