I stuck my hand out the window of our hotel room, put the camera on video, and starting filming. About 12 seconds into it, FLASH!! and lightning struck in several places just across the road!

Talk about being in the right place at the right time. :)

Cool! This is exactly how you shoot lightning with a still camera too. You put your camera on a tripod and start a 10-20 second long exposure then stop it when you see a strike.
