Ah, mostly it's just a matter of exposure. Yes, the light was low, so just open up the shutter a bit longer or a bit wider and you let more light in. Simple :^) However I did also do some stuff to give it a little more "pop" - not really brightening as such, but lifting the contrast, boosting the saturation etc.

Just a shame I couldn't bring myself to lean over the edge and actually look through the viewfinder for some of these :^) They won't be wonderfully composed because I couldn't bring myself to look at what I was shooting!
