Life, Liberty and the Pursuit (of a good photo) - 34/366

Saw this license plate and knew there was something special about this car. Luckily the car was parked on the street and no car in front of it. Literally 5 seconds after taking this shot, a car came up and parked.

Great shot - looks like it could have been straight out of the 50's. Good angle and composition, but just a bit of detail lost in the white buildings, upper left.

(edited as forgot the strapline :0)

A great photo of a great car! I love old Cadillacs! You've got great composition and perspective in this shot, it really portraits the car as powerful and legendary. The B&W also adds a great touch. If only there wasn't such great contrast between the sky and the road under the car. The sky is kind of overblown and I can't really distinguish the wheels from the road. HDR would have been perfect for this shot, but you could also fix the overblown sky and brighten up the bottom a little bit. I love the smoothness of the car and its grille's shiny parts, as well as the headlights, classic! Beautiful shot, well done!

Although I'm not much of a car afficianido, your photo seems to have captured a number of the Cadillac's beautiful (and strong) lines.

I really like your decision to go with b/w on this shot - it pulls me right back into old photos of my grandparents' vehicles. The angle you shot from was great! My eyes kept playing tricks on me, and I had the sense that the car was actually in motion when you took the photo. (Perhaps because the side-headlamps were slightly out of focus?)

      Great stuff!

Thanks Zoot and Youssef - i totally agree with the washed out white buildings and the sky. I am going to purchase photoshop soon and try to play with it.

maxed - I cant believe someone would let this beauty sit out on the streets of DC. Crazy.

Richard - I think the headlamp being OOF is slightly due to the wide angle distortion. Im glad it wasnt moving because I surely would NOT have been in the middle of the street for this one haha.

      Thanks chip
