While approaching Chuuk you are treated to such beautiful sights from the air.

Boarding!

Boarding!

Alaska Airlines' Boeing 737-800 is being boarded from platform at Bellingham International airport.

The boarding device looks a bit strange to my "european" eyes, I haven't really seen such devices used for boarding of passengers here in Europe (which doesn't mean they don't exist in Europe, I just haven't noticed them before). They look rather unusual, we are so used to the "normal" steps but if you think of it they seem quite useful to me: wheelchair passengers can easily board the aircraft by wheelchair and use the same way as all other passengers (think no discrimination) and this approach seems cheaper to me than the necessity of buying (probably) more expensive trucks that can raise to the height of the aircraft door as they are widely used in Europe. Another advantage for passengers is they can board the aircraft without the need to lift their handluggage up the stairs but can simply pull it up behind them which seems more practical to me. Also, this might be more safe than high stairs where one could stumble and fall...?
