My Daughter's Smallsword

    Newer Older

The smallsword was a gentleman's dueling weapon in the 18th century. When worn with civilian clothes it is less unwieldy than a rapier and in use its reduced length and weight make it fast and deadly. The Smiling Fox Forge hilt was cast in white bronze from an original. The blade is a Zen Warrior Armory "musketeer" epee blade cut down to 30 inches. The hilt required considerable modification to mount it on the blade. A boiled leather washer between the blade and guard was the key to keeping the hilt snug and secure.
