The Crown & James Whitcomb Riley's Memorial
At 842.21 feet, the "Crown," as it's commonly known, is the highest hill in Marion County and the burial location of the famous Hoosier Poet, James Whitcomb Riley. The view from his memorial allows visitors to see the entire Indianapolis skyline in all directions. This is a popular location to view the sunset on one of Crown Hill's many Saturday evening public walking tours. Check out the calendar on the Crown Hill Heritage Foundation's website at www.crownhillhf.org.

The Riley Children's Foundation holds an annual wreath-laying ceremony here on Oct. 7th, the poet's birthday. All the coins left on his memorial are collected and given to this foundation which supports Riley Childresn's Hospital.
