Santa Driving in the Snow in HoustonComing back from an early lunch in the snow, I found Santa driving down the road - making a list of who is naughty and who is nice in Houston traffic i suppose... (And when I grow up I want a train on my car too...)
Uploaded on Dec 4, 2009 Emperess Josephone's Tiara
Part of the Faberge collection on display at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, this is one of the few tiaras made by the House of Faberge. It was made around 1890 using the original diamonds given to Josephine by Tsar Alexander I (after her divorce from Napoleon) and passed down plus hundreds of other diamonds.

The Nobel Ice Egg of rock crystal, platinum and diamonds, made for Dr. Emmanuel Nobel, nephew of Alfred Nobel who founded the Nobel prize. Emmanuel Nobel, one of the leading figures of the oil industry at this time, was amongst Fabergé's most important clients. The Nobel Ice Egg commissioned by him was created in platinum, silver and seed-pearls.
Uploaded on Nov 15, 2009 Faberge FanThis fan is noteworthy in our evening at HMNS because is could be damaged by flash. It was kept shrouded while the strobists shot in the Faberge collection, and only available light could be used for the photograph. This was shot with ambient light only from the display case lights. I requested the shroud (black) be lowered around my self and the camera to prevent any reflections from the glass from spoiling the view and the shot.
