ThINK: Books & Tattoos - Evan

I decided to get an elephant tattoo after I spent a Field Work Term working in Riddle’s Elephant and Wildlife Sanctuary in Greenbrier, Arkansas. So much about what I was studying and the various areas I was interested in all coalesced into elephant conservation. After investing so much blood and sweat working in the place I knew I wanted to commemorate this time in my life. In February, just as I was leaving, I started to search for images. I found this one elephant illustration by Zdeněk Burian. He was a prolific Czech illustrator during the 1940s-50s. He made scientific illustrations for textbooks, especially in the field of paleontology. This book Elephant Bill is by Lt. Colonel J.H. Williams who spent 25 years living with the elephants in the mountains and forests of Burma.
