Just the outer shells. The inner fruit tastes a lot like lychee, only a lot
chewier in texture.

i had them for the first time last night! at first i didn't know how to open them up so i had to go online and look up "instructions." turns out yes, they're like lychees, you just peel 'em open. I sliced them in half and they were even prettier on the inside, that creamy white interior.

though i still prefer lychees to rambutan. no matter, i bought lychees too!
