Mystery Flower

No idea what kind of flower this is, and as I took this shot a few days ago i amongst a whole load of others, I can't remember what size it is either. Not much help am I.

A local horticultural authority suggests that this might be Clematis. Who am I to argue.

I think it is a clematis. If it was growing on a vine then I would be sure. I have taken many macros of this flower and I would say with 99% certainty that you have captured the beauty of a clematis bloom. Excellent work!!

Here is my take on it, see if you think they are the same, mine was just opening and had not reached the fully opened stage yet.

This is like a sea anemone. I love the little bunch in the middle! I swear I must have been a pollen collecting insect in a former life. Uh, before we start in on that one, I'll specify........ a butterfly of some sort.

Just to prove my manliness and commenting on flowers is not below me.....Ray this is a bloody great photo. I think it's the colours and the dof. I'm always amazed at great flower shots as I just can't seem to manage them LOL.

The life in the flowers is a wonder. The sharpens and soft to the right places. Very good use of light and good crop. Very good macro!
