Its Not Over
As a Black American, I am happy to see a fellow Black American, Barack
Obama, reach such heights and this level of success. This is a sign
of great progress in our country. In overcoming racial barriers, that
is.
However, I am heart broken that as president, America has chosen
Obama. In my own, humble opinion, I do not believe that he is ready
to lead this nation. I do not believe that America got this one
right. We will soon see the results of this decision. And I do not
believe they will be pleasant ones.
I respect Obama as the President elect, but I will not lose sight of
what I know. I will not throw away the core morals and values this
nation was founded upon.
This is not over. Conservative America will not bow to Liberal
America. We will not go into hiding. America cannot survive a path
of moving away from our original values. Those of us with the vision
of this must stay the course. We cannot give up. We have not lost.
This has just begun. And values will win!
Many of my friends on Flickr are celebrating tonight. I congratulate
you! You should celebrate. We have a great nation which allows us to
freely vote and your vote was rewarded tonight. Please respect me,
however, as I disagree with the outcome. Please know that I respect
you and your decision.
To my Flickr friends who stand where I stand. Let's never forget.
Let's keep pushing forward. And let's always remember who we are.
Country First!
Thank you, John McCain and Sarah Palin for fighting so hard for us. The best is yet to come!

Great Capture - beautifully done (Even though I don't feel terribly patriotic just now)!

This is a lovely picture and a very meaningful post.
As you recall, "me and my dog" are the President of "Birddogs for Hillary".
Our girl already lost so we switched to "Pointers for Palin".
I, too, must resign myself to someone winning that was not my first or second choice. But I've noticed something about Obama...
He copies off other peoples papers. (I'm a former school teacher.) He quotes famous people and repeated just about everything Hillary ever said. My point is he listens to what others say and maybe will acquire his experience vicariously. He seems to rely on the knowledge of others. That means he won't lead alone. But do we actually expect any leader to lead alone...or to head a team of people with various experience and input?
I hope he can grow into the shoes of the Commander in Chief.
BTW, I didn't like George W. Bush.
I'm a "Friend of Bill".

Excellent post! While I disagree with you and feel this nation is beginning anew, your ability to have an opinion is what makes this country so wonderful. I respect your opinion and think it's great that you are able to voice it.

Thankyou for speaking your mind CR Artist! As a white woman I'm also really charged that we do we have a black president....I just wish it was a conservative black president. It's my view that had there been a true conservative in the race of any color, he/she would have won. Congratulations, President-Elect Obama!! Our family and church body will be praying for you daily.

Beautiful photo and very well spoken words! I agree with what you said...I am not sure he is eady to lead our great nation, but only time will tell. No matter how we voted and whether we won or lost the vote we cast, we must now all band together and make our great nation even stronger and better. It takes us all to accomplish this! Thanks for sharing your view.

In all honesty Obama was not my first choice, but I am proud of him nevertheless. No one can deny that he's inspired millions of people to challenge their own prejudices, feel hopeful about their future and become involved in the democratic process, and those things alone have made it worth it, for me. Also, he's from my neighborhood, how can I not be proud about that?
I tend to have libertarian leanings and in that sense I differ with Obama, but as a person I admire him, respect him and hope he will use his position wisely for the benefit of all Americans.

First and foremost, I do respect your opinion, your vote. We are all entitled to our own choice when it comes to voting, for you it was McCain/Palin, for me it was Obama/Biden, but the fact remains that we are BOTH American citizens.
As Barack Obama said, "And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn, I may not have won your vote tonight, but I hear your voices. I need your help. And I will be your president, too", I do pray that you will come on board and do your part to help President Elect Barack Obama in any way that you can to help return our great country around. I pray that your title of this photo "It's Not Over" is for the positive and not leading to anything negative, like division. We do not need any division at this point. Our country is at a point where we have to assist whomever was elected as President, in this instance it is Barack Obama, to return our country to where it once was. I am saying this to you as I have said over and over again that if the outcome had been different than what I voted (meaning McCain/Palin would have won), I would have had to jumped on board and assisted just as I am asking that you do now.
It is that easy. No President alone can help fix our great country. We all have to dig deep and do our part. Make no mistake about it, last night was a historical night for the USA, for the world and we all should feel proud that such a great time has come. Now let's go from here, let's do our parts and watch this great country become one. Together we all CAN AND WILL do this.
By the way, I agree, THE BEST IS YET TO COME!!!!!
Much Luv,
Tee
Edit: I do speak this from my heart. There is NO ill feelings at all. *HUGS*

I'm a Obama/Biden supporter and I want to echo KYGirl's thoughts. In particular, about banding together as a nation -- there's a lot of work to be done to be a better stronger nation and I hope that we citizens can put aside politics and recognize our common goals and work together to honor the ideals that this country was founded on. (i just saw your tags.... i was raised SDA...)

this is what makes you such a respectable man Louis. I'm proud to call you family. Just the fact that you at least have some ideals and respect the opinion of others is a step in the right direction for this country. I voted for Obama based on the fact that he's a man of consensus. That he wants to lead the people more than a political party. Bringing the nation together and supporting what we all want is important. I felt like the last president did more ignoring of one half of the country and hope that Obama does exactly the opposite. There is some fixing to be done as far as policy goes and pointing the money our tax dollars are going to in other directions and that is what got my vote. Not necessarily more taxes, but better spending. Education and health care are two things that are needing help in this country and I hope that these things can be fixed.
Jesus said to let what is Cesar's to be his when asked about politics and can't really argue with that. Mixing the two too much is going against the founding father's original thoughts and beliefs, so I disagree when you say that the conservative right would be going back to the nation's roots. Separation of church and state is important to keep everyone respected, valued and to keep us all in check. We should all hold our faith dear, vote with our brains and act with our hearts. Not everyone shares the same beliefs but what makes this country great is that the beliefs of others should never be discounted or oppressed.
That is not to say you shouldn't feel what you do strongly or believe yours to be right, but rather learn from the lives, thoughts and faith of others. We all have learning to do and the actual meaning of faith is not a blind man stepping into something he doesn't understand but rather a lifelong journey of understanding. Great post Louis.

Nicely said, CR. I think you will be happy to be proven wrong about Obama, and that the values you talk about will be embraced by a president who will stand for all Americans -- or will at least put his heart and soul into the effort.
Meanwhile, talking about those values is not the same as living them, as you will no doubt sadly witness while the phoniness of Palin's candidacy becomes increasingly apparent. She is a shallow opportunist who simply says things to impress people who are yearning for more more moral clarity -- while she herself has neither knowledge nor ethical standards to rely on. (She WILL keep those clothes, because she thinks the RNC owes her!)
In any case, keep up the great photos. Self-expression is the best way for people to be known and recognized in our fragmented world. Fortunately, there seems to be a real move towards us all coming together again. Let's forget the pit bulls and remember the bald eagle!
